Today, we’re excited to highlight an update for The Events Calendar Pro that’s already out, but which may have gone unnoticed.

Event duplication now includes tickets!

The process of including tickets while duplicating an event is one of our most requested features. It’s been submitted on LoopedIn (our customer feedback platform) over 300 times! We heard you, and we made the change.

Previously, when you’d duplicate an event, only the event details would be copied over to the new event, leaving any attached tickets behind. As a result, tickets had to be re-added manually.

However, as of version 7.2.0 of The Events Calendar Pro, event tickets are also copied to the new event after duplication. This update will result in a lot of saved time and less repetitive tasks, increasing overall productivity and efficiency.

Let’s see it in action!

How to duplicate events and tickets at the same time

This event is all ready to go on the website. Since it is the perfect event for Halloween, we want to duplicate it for next year. All that needs changed is the date!

As you can see on this frontend view, tickets are sold for this event. There are two ticket options: general admission for $10 and a costume discount for $5. Although these ticket options would not get duplicated previously, now they will! Saving us the hassle of creating new tickets for next year’s event. Let’s try it out!

To duplicate an event, you can move to the backend of your site. Click “Events” on the admin dashboard menu.

Next, we’re selecting the event we want to duplicate. Hover over the title of the event. Then, click “duplicate.”

The event duplication takes a matter of seconds. Then, all we have to do to prepare the event listing for next year is update the dates, starting with the one in the title.

Then, the date should be updated from October 31, 2024 to October 31, 2025 in the “Time & Date” section.

When you scroll down to the “Tickets” section, you’ll see the duplicate tickets. So nice! The final step is to change the dates on the tickets. Click the pencil icon on the right of the ticket to make edits.

In this case, the start and end sale date needed to be updated. We went in and changed the dates for each of the tickets.

For extra variety, we also changed the event photo, updating it from the year before. And there you have it! An updated event for 2025, made easy with tickets now being duplicated.

On the frontend of the website, both events look very similar. With an updated photo and dates for 2025, it is ready to go live.

More use cases for this new and improved event duplication feature

If you’re one of the many customers who have requested this feature, then you already know exactly how you want to use it. For everyone else, here are a few examples where this feature will come in handy:

  • Repeat Events (that aren’t recurring): These events happen multiple times but are not part of a regular schedule. This update allows you to create multiple instances of the event while ensuring consistency.
  • Creating Event Draft Templates: You can create a draft event listing that serves as a template, allowing for quick duplication when planning new events. The template can house details like location, description, and ticketing options–making delegation and collaboration much easier!
  • Events Held in Multiple Locations (like a tour): Pricing may vary depending on the location of the event. If the same event is held at multiple locations, duplicating the event with tickets helps you keep the event details and ticket options consistent while only needing to update the location and price.

Stay tuned for more product updates!

We hope that when you utilize this feature, you notice a difference in the time you save and the consistency of your events. We’re always listening to our customers, and we’re excited to see how this update for The Events Calendar Pro helps you.

As always, there’s more good things right around the corner. Next up is a product that will revolutionize the way you sell tickets. You won’t want to miss it. Stay tuned!
