Today we’re releasing a design refresh for The Events Calendar settings screen. This design update not only looks good but it makes it quicker and easier than ever to find what you’re looking for, make changes, or get the help you need.

We should stress though, no actual settings have changed and everything is still under the same parent tabs you’re used to. So don’t worry, if you’ve been using The Events Calendar for a while this update shouldn’t confuse you with new or moved settings. But you should find those settings better displayed and easier to navigate.

Let’s take a look!

The Events Calendar’s Old Settings Experience

The old settings design above was closely aligned with the standard WordPress backend user interface that was around when we created it. Since then, both WordPress and the design expectations of users have changed a lot. So we felt it was time to do a design refresh that not only comes with a new look, but improved user experience too.

The Events Calendar’s New Settings Experience

Our new settings design is intended to bring some much needed life into the backend experience of using The Events Calendar, without straying too far from what folks are expecting in the WP Admin. To begin, we injected our lively brand colors and fun aesthetic, then we made four key improvements.

1. A Decluttered Settings Area

We moved documentation and other resource links to a new sidebar. This gets users into the settings quicker and removes any confusion you might have when looking for settings and finding documentation or other resource links instead.

2. Sub-Navigation Replaces Long Scrolling Pages

The old settings pages could get really long with lots of sections. In our new settings experience we’ve replaced most of those sections with new sub-menu tabs that require less scrolling.

3. Improved Accessibility

Accessibility work is never done, but we can make steady progress. What that means for this update is that now, anyone using the WordPress Admin in accessibility mode can easily tab through The Events Calendar settings.

4. Improved Responsive Design

There have never been more screen sizes for plugin makers to contend with, which is why it’s so important that every part of the experience is responsive–even backend settings! This release makes it easier to view and navigate The Events Calendar Settings on any device from Desktop to phone.

More Product Updates Coming Soon

We hope that today’s settings design update makes using The Events Calendar more enjoyable. And as always, our team is hard at work on a deep slate of other improvements (and additions!) we can’t wait to share with you. So make sure to keep an eye on your inbox for more updates coming soon!
